Mooneyes holds a drag racing contest every year at the Speedway and it’s a blast to watch and cheer with the crowd. There was an unfortunate crash early in the day that closed down the track for about an hour but then it resumed as normal for the rest of the day. The random nature of selecting the vehicles racing makes for some very interesting races and it’s all just good fun.
The pinup contest always draws a crowd as well and this year was no different. There were 12 contestants this time around and number 8 (Miss Mariam) won. She deserved it and the crowd was super excited and loud!
We are excited to attend next year and are looking forward to even bigger numbers of participants. It’s always a great way to kick off the holiday season. We hope we saw you out there this year and if not hope to see you there next year! Have a great holiday season everyone!

Last month we had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know our hometown WBC Silver Featherweight Champion, Ronny Rios. Ronny was born in LA but grew up in some of the meanest streets of Santa Ana near the Delhi neighborhoods. With the help of his uncle, he was able to establish a love for boxing and by the age of 13 found an undying love for the beautiful science. He has been training under the wing of Hector Lopez since 14 at the local TKO Boxing Gym at Jerome Park in Santa Ana, California.
Ronny is what us here at Suavecito call "Firme". A true champion tested to the fullest and going hard in the face of adversity. Despite a loss in 2014, he has managed to box his way back into the limelight and beat out a tough opponent in Jayson Velez for the WBC Silver Featherweight Championship back in November of 2015.
We are definitely looking forward to Ronny’s future as much as he and his promoter Golden Boy Promotions is. With a possible Championship bout in sight, Ronny is poised to take his boxing career into great heights in the Lightweight Boxing division. We expect only the best from Ronny Rios in the near future.

The Santa Maria Cruisin Nationals 2015, a must go to show in California located right smack in the center of the state. It’s only a few hours from Santa Ana. So in true Suavecito fashion, we loaded up the whip with goods and took the scenic coastal drive. The route we took was the famous Pacific Coast Highway and boy was it a beautiful one. Beaches to the left of us, mountains to the right, there we were stuck in the middle of the coast. Nothing but the sand and waves, our timing could not have been more perfect as we caught the sunset on our way there.
We had plans to take our 1962 International Harvester Metro van with us. Rick from Sunset Classics worked tirelessly on some needed repairs the night before to get it road ready, but the van ended up surprising us with a new problem while on the road. We then realized it was not going to make the trip. Sorry to all the fans out there that wanted to take a picture with the metro. It will be ready for our next show. We ended up getting to Santa Maria late at night so by the time we checked into our five star hotel and got situated the Friday night city cruise was over, upsetting as it was, we were just happy to have made it there in one piece.
We took this time to hangout and relax in our motel room, have some drinks, eat a late dinner and ready up for Saturday.
Saturday morning came, we got ready and jumped in the van. We pulled up to the Santa Maria Fairpark just in time to set everything up. The Suavecito Pomade booth was located next to a few familiar faces, one of the being our friends Bo and Debbie from Bomonster. The day started quickly as the empty fair grounds exploded with life as cars and their owners filled it like a real life Tetris game, and our booth was no exception. Thank you to all the cool cats and gals that came to visit us and support our business, we are always humbled when you folks take your time to come talk and hangout with us. Being as busy as we were, we didn't have much time to see the cars other than the gems that were in front of us and driving by.
Sunday came and the pace changed up a bit, a lot more mellow. This was when we caught all of the cars cruising by our booth as they lined up to accept their awards. Once the awards were done we started to break down our booth and start packing for the voyage home. The 2015 Santa Maria Cruisin Nationals was over, it was a great way to spend Memorial Day weekend. We would like to thank and pay respects to all of the soldiers who have fallen fighting for this country. Thank you from all of us here at Suavecito.
]]>Our week started off with us loading into the Suavecito Pomade van to head to Santa Monica for a meeting. Our plan was simple. Stop for lunch at Unami Burger, get a haircut from a local barbershop that carries our pomades, and then end the day at our meeting.
Unami's Manly Burger was covered in bacon, crispy fried onions and cheddar cheese. Once lunch was consumed we took a short 8 minute walk to Pacific Barber Shop for our haircuts. The shop is set inside a really cool arch ceiling room, reminiscent of a World War 2 bomb shelter.
We were greeted by barbers Hugo and Ed. We were seated immediately, caped, and ready for a haircut. It was then when I really got to see all the sports memorabilia, vintage car toys, and classic car prints that covered the walls. Ed proceded to clean up my neck and beard exactly as I like it. As we sat in the chairs getting our hair cut, we conversed with Ed and Hugo about the shop and how it was opened by Art and Adrien a few years ago, their passion about sports, and how it reflects upon on the shop.
My cut was complimented with a hot lather and neck shave, which left me feeling fresh and energized. If you are wondering where to buy Suavecito Pomade in Santa Monica, definitely check out Pacific Barbershop.
After Pacific Barbers, we took a stroll to the Santa Monica Pier and checked out the sights before heading to our meeting.
]]>We would like to thank everyone who made it out to the Suavecito Pomade booth at The Lonestar Round Up in Austin, Texas. It's always a privilege to hang out with our supporters. The 1,400 mile drive out there was rough, but it was all worth it. Driving up Congress St. and seeing the rows of cars and people truly was an amazing sight. This year’s Round Up had a great turn out, there was a sea of cars, each one as unique as the next. There was a plethora of hot rods, rat rods, roadsters, dragsters and classic cars. So many things to see and such little time, despite that, we were able to check out some cars and watch the live music. We saw a few familiar faces there including our friends from Deadend Magazine, Sin City Jokers and Sosa Metalworks, We also got to make some new friends over the weekend. Lonestar Roundup is a must for any and all classic car and kustom kulture lifestyle enthusiasts.
On one of the many stops on our way to Austin.
A beautiful 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air that caught our eye.
A cameo appearance by the Suavecita bobblehead.
Be sure to drop by our booth at events to take advantage of special deals on our pomades, t-shirts, and other collectible merchandise.
All Packed up and ready to drive back to California. Thank you Texas, you were good to us.
